Lismore City Council is at the forefront of community engagement and strategic planning, dedicated to creating a sustainable and vibrant future for the residents of of Lismore. We are currently seeking a proactive and passionate Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Officer to join our dedicated Stakeholder Engagement Team. This role is  permanent full-time, working 35 hours a week and will be primarily based at our Corporate Centre in Goonellabah.

About the role
As a Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of our engagement strategies. Your expertise will ensure the community is not just aware but is actively involved in the decision-making processes that shape their environment. This role involves a mix of administrative tasks, digital engagement platform management, and the delivery of engagement activities aimed at enhancing communication with our community and stakeholders.

What we trust you to deliver 
  • Comprehensive Administrative and Operational Support - Provide support to the Stakeholder Engagement team, managing essential tasks such as purchasing, booking, and general administration.
  • Strategic Project Support - Assisting in the design, evaluation & implementation of significant community & stakeholder engagement strategy projects.
  • Community Engagement Advocacy - Champion community engagement within council, advocating for effective engagement mechanisms to enhance Lismore City Council's community engagement effectiveness.
  • Workshop and Forum Facilitation - Facilitate workshops and forums as required, creating opportunities for dialogue, learning and feedback between council, the community and stakeholders.
What you'll need to be successful
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (ie. Communications, community engagement or Project Management).
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in Stakeholder engagement, communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
