About the Role
We are currently seeking an internal Senior Law Enforcement Officer /Ranger. This role is permanent full-time, working 38 hours a week and will be primarily based at our Corporate Centre in Goonellabah. 
Reporting to the Law Enforcement Coordinator, the Senior Ranger works within Council’s Law Enforcement Section and assists the Law Enforcement Coordinator with day-to-day supervision and operations of the Rangers team in line with Council’s procedures, policies, and legislative requirements. This Position also relieves the Law Enforcement Coordinator when periods of leave arise and provides a high level of mentorship and support to Law Enforcement staff. This role is an integral part of a versatile and adaptable team. At times, the position may entail assisting multiple departments as necessary and offering support across the organisation as directed.

What we trust you to deliver 
  • Supervise and participate in delivery of law enforcement and security services in line with Council's policies, plans and adopted budgets. Including but not limited to; Parking Control, Dog Control, Cattle Impounding, Enforcement of regulations (abandoned vehicles, public spaces, community nuisance/amenity, environmental pollution etc), Respond to customer requests, City Safe Program CCTV. 
  • Maintain compliance with organisational benchmarks and budget goals while striving for bet practice standards. Ensure activities and programs align with Law Enforcement benchmarks and budget objectives. Self-manage, monitor, and report on law enforcement activities as needed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with essential stakeholders and customers, both internal and external, regarding compliance service delivery. Offer comprehensive information, solid recommendations, and support for compliance. Execute law enforcement tasks to ensure service delivery and reduce non-conformities. Foster a positive and proactive law enforcement culture and deliver exceptional customer service to address customer needs effectively.
  • Actively engage in and add value to professional, supportive, and adaptable team setting. Promote positive compliance culture and demonstrate resilience while contributing to ongoing improvement. Be dedicated to cultivating a constructive team environment, whilst remaining flexible to evolving team and Council goals. Embrace continuous improvement principles and reflection to enhance service delivery.
What you'll need to be successful
  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or demonstrated experience in a related field 
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence 
  • First Aid Certificate
