We are currently seeking an internal Senior Regulatory Services Officer (OSSM) to join our Operational Compliance team. This role is permanent full-time, working 35 hours a week and will be primarily based at our Corporate Centre in Goonellabah. 
About the Role
Reporting to the Regulatory Services Coordinator the Senior Regulatory Services Officer (OSSM) is a key member of the Shared Services program area and is responsible to review, implement and monitor Council’s on-site sewage management strategy. The Senior Regulatory Services Officer (OSSM) assists the Regulatory Services Coordinator with day-to-day supervision and operations of the team in line with Council’s procedures, policies, and legislative requirements. This Position also relieves the Regulatory Services Coordinator when periods of leave arise and provides a high level of mentorship, technical guidance and support to the Regulatory Services OSSM team.  
The Senior Regulatory Services Officer (OSSM) works closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of sustainable development that satisfies legislative, policy and community expectations.
This position is part of a multi-skilled team and is required to be flexible and agile. From time to time, this role may be required to support more than one department as the need arises and provide support across the organisation as directed.

What we trust you to deliver 
  • Oversee and supervise work health and safety duties, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations in the Program area. Support team members in implementing related policies, procedures, and processes. Adhere to defined policies and procedures for workplace safety and encourage a safer work environment. Demonstrate compliance with all WHS controls, including documented risk assessments and hazard reporting. Provide support to injured colleagues as needed. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers, both internal and external, involved in program service delivery. Offer expert advice on Council's On-site Sewage Management Strategy and related matters to internal and external customers. Deliver exceptional customer service to meet the expectations of internal and external customers in issue resolution. Provide guidance, advice, and coordination for additional information requests regarding applications. Continuously enhance knowledge base and adopt a customer service approach in all interactions, both internal and external.  
  • Establish and maintain relationships through constructive behaviours to cultivate a productive team environment. Exhibit accountable, affiliative, and constructive behaviours in all interactions. Show dedication to fostering and engaging in a positive team atmosphere, being flexible and adaptable to evolving team needs. Actively participate, contribute, and be willing to take on additional roles as needed, such as during leave periods. 
  • Promote a culture of innovation to enhance service delivery performance. Embrace technology for optimal practices. Engage with peers and industry to drive ongoing business improvements. 
What you'll need to be successful
  • Possession of an appropriate Degree qualification together with relevant work experience in on-site sewerage/wastewater management or equivalent relevant trade qualification with substantial relevant experience.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institute.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
