Due to an internal movement we have an exciting opportunity for a Capital Works Engineer to join our Roads and Quarry team. In this role, reporting to the Manager of Roads Construction, you will be responsible for ensuring that capital works projects for Roads and Quarry are delivered to the community in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. This is a permanent, full-time position, 35 hours per week, primarily based at our Wyrallah Road Depot in East Lismore.

What we trust you to deliver 
  • Lead and manage the planning, design, and delivery of capital works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and community members, to ensure effective project delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement and monitor best practices and benchmarks for financial management, ensuring projects meet budget objectives and deliver value for money.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with capital works projects to minimize potential impacts on project delivery and council operations.
What you'll need to be successful
  • Relevant Bachelors (4 Year Engineering - Civil) Degree qualification coupled with extensive civil construction experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the capability to analyse issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions. 
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
