Our Flood Restoration Portfolio (FRP) is the principal delivery agency for restoring the Councils' and Community assets. Over the coming months, the team will grow exponentially, offering exciting opportunities for personal and professional development as we deliver many rebuild and transformation projects for our community.

We seek a dynamic Finance Support Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Flood Restoration Portfolio, contributing significantly to our community's recovery.

What we trust you to deliver 

  • Providing financial support services across the FRP. 

  • Assist in preparing journals, processing transactions, and reconciling accounts 

  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary financial data and documentation for credit evaluation. 

  • Process accounting transactions, including raising and receiving purchase orders, allocating payments, providing accounting support, and processing journals as directed.

  • Support the Finance team in managing client relationships, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly and professionally.

  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to enhance client satisfaction and retention concerning financial obligations.

  • Assist in reviewing and improving systems and reconciliation processes.

  • Compile information and prepare documentation as directed.
  • Assist with internal and external audits. 

What you'll need to be successful

  • Strong accuracy & attention to detail. 

  •  Takes the initiative to add value to the FRP team. 

  • Focus on the identification of problems & developing solutions.  

  • Project-based approach. Experience working in a project-based approach with the capacity to support multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Self-driven but works as part of a team to achieve common goals and outcomes. 

  • Ability to work agilely / respond to competing priorities & shifting demands.

  • Fast learner and keen to learn / can learn by doing.

  • Intermediate skills in all MS Office programs, especially in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of government programs such as Content Manager and/or Authority is an advantage.

  • 3-5 years in a finance support role, preferably (but not necessarily) in a project management, construction, or Local Government environment.

  • This position is a full-time (70 Hrs per fortnight), term-based appointment until 31 December 2026.
