Our Flood Restoration Portfolio (FRP) is the principal delivery agency for restoring the Councils’ and Community assets. Over the coming months, the team will grow exponentially, offering exciting opportunities for personal and professional development as we deliver many rebuild and transformation projects for our community.

What we trust you to deliver

Be influential in leading our existing team and overseeing the strategic execution of our large-scale landslip, pavement, and waste projects. The role demands a professional adept at navigating the complexities of large-scale, multifaceted infrastructure projects from inception to completion.

Proven experience in project management within a construction, government or large organisation.

Proven leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building cohesive, high-performing teams.

Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and contract management.

Solid understanding of construction methodologies, design management, and regulatory standards.
-
Establish close working relationships with all stakeholders to develop an environment of cooperation in delivering the projects on time and within budget.

Ensure critical milestones are met in the program/s or prompt reporting of program slippages with recommended corrective actions to ensure successful project or contract outcomes.

Manage negotiations, communications, and expectations.
-
Maintain a strong safety focus and flexibility to operate on a large project or between numerous smaller projects.

Ensure project adherence to regulatory, legislative, and corporate governance requirements.

Actively review and maintain procedures and processes to deliver continuous improvement projects.
What you'll need to be successful
-
BA engineering, civil, and/or project management qualifications with experience in a similar role in a construction environment.

Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management are desirable.

Experience in community infrastructure, earthworks, drainage, and road construction.

Experience in waste and tailings (containment) projects desirable.

Demonstrated experience in project planning and development phases and required delivery phase experience is desirable.

Minimum 8+ years of industry experience required.

Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to interpret and apply contracts.

Demonstrated high-level decision-making, negotiation, and influencing skills.

Significant experience managing major contract packages for multiple complex infrastructure projects.

Robust understanding of relevant legislation

Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build a high-performing team that delivers excellence.

Detailed knowledge and demonstrated high-level experience in project management, planning, budgeting, and cost control.

Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Term Contract: contracted hours of work 35 hours a week/70 hours a fortnight up to 31 December 2026.

Location: The position will be based primarily at our Flood Portfolio Office in Lismore. Flexible work options are available, working within operational requirements.

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures, and agreements.
