We are excited to invite applications for a Water Industry Operations Trainee position within our highly skilled and supportive Water and Wastewater team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for motivated individuals eager to begin a meaningful career while working toward a nationally recognised qualification. 

As a full time, two year traineeship, this role offers hands on experience, professional development, and the chance to contribute to essential community services. We're looking for enthusiastic, proactive candidates who are ready to learn, grow and make a lasting impact in the water industry. 

 

 As a Water Industry Operations Trainee you will:

  • Receive paid on-the-job training while working alongside experienced professionals
  • Gain hands on experience in water and wastewater operations
  • Carry out operational and maintenance tasks on Council's urban drains, and water & wastewater infrastructure
  • Perform labouring tasks for construction and renewal works
  • Be supported through mentoring and guidance every step of the way
  • Gain field based experience that will set you up for long-term success
  • Earn while you learn - get paid while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Water Industry Operations

What you will need to be successful:

  • Be eager to learn and a genuine interest in building a career in the water industry
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
  • Be able to express your ideas clearly and listen actively to others
  • Commitment to the full term of the traineeship and study requirements
  • Strong communication skills and able to work well within a team 
  • The ability to problem solve and take initiative with a positive can-do attitude

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements

Council has an immunisation program to provide employees with vaccinations against known health risks associated with their respective duties and to identify any exposure to products that may affect an employee’s health, fitness and wellbeing. This position has been identified as a risk to the employee and as such the successful applicant/s will be required to participate in the immunisation program and it is the applicant’s responsibility to have undertaken relevant immunisation/s prior to commencement with Council.
