About this Position:

We are excited to invite applications for a Heavy Vehicle Collection Driver to join our Collections team. The Heavy Vehicle Collection Driver is responsible for the delivery of essential waste collections services across residential, commercial and public areas. This role is critical in maintaining the cleanliness, health and environmental standards of the community by ensuring timely and reliable waste collection, supporting public amenity, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of Council's waste management operations.

What we trust you to deliver:

  • Vehicle Operation: Operate Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicles such as side-arm waste collection vehicle, rear loader collection vehicle, hook truck and bin truck in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Manual Labour: Carry out general labourer duties when active heavy vehicle operation is not required such as bin delivery, bin repairs, inspection and collection of illegal dumping
  • Customer Interaction: Deliver professional customer interactions with the community including responding to CRMs
  • Team Communication: Co-operate and communicate with other team members and staff and a commitment to participating in a positive team culture
  • Work Health and Safety: Follow defined Work Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure own safety and that of members of the community and other in the workplace 

What you will need to be successful:

  • Current Class Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Relevant experience within the industry
  • Knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Regulations (NHVR)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a Heavy Rigid vehicle and experience in side arm and rear loader collections
  • Sound customer service skills and a genuine customer service focus

Full Time: 76 hours per fortnight

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.

Immunisation Program

Council has an immunisation program to provide employees with vaccinations against known health risks associated with their respective duties and to identify any exposure to products that may affect an employee’s health, fitness and wellbeing. This position has been identified as a risk to the employee and as such the successful applicant/s will be required to participate in the immunisation program and it is the applicant’s responsibility to have undertaken relevant immunisation/s prior to commencement with Council.
