About the Position:

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming space for all? Richmond Tweed Regional Library (RTRL) is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as Library Assistant.

We’re excited to offer the following permanent part time opportunity with 28 hours per week.

This position will be primarily based at our Lismore Area Libraries; however, the role may require you to work at different locations throughout your employment. 

As a Library Assistant with Richmond Tweed Regional Library (RTRL), you will play a vital role in delivering high quality service to library patrons. You will be part of a multi-skilled team, providing support across the organisation as needed. Your main responsibilities will include assisting in maintaining and providing access to library collections, facilitating children’s programs, communicating effectively with patrons and using automated information systems and databases.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Australian Citizenship or appropriate VISA to work in Australia. 
  • Current Class C Drivers License. 
  • NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Good interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary: Grade 5 from $890.40 per week, plus superannuation

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.

Pre-employment Screening: Prior to employment, there will be a series of pre-employment checks that may include, health assessments, validation of right to work in Australia, validation of qualifications and licences, criminal history checks, psychometric assessments and referee checks.

Working with Children Check

In accordance with the requirement for ‘Working with Children' anyone starting a new, paid job in child-related work must apply for the Working with Children Check (WWCC). This is a requirement for this position and it is the responsibility of the successful applicant to have undertaken the WWCC and the ‘Clearance to Work with Children’ provided to Council prior to commencement.
