About this Position:

 

We’re excited to offer permanent full-time opportunity for a Communications and Engagement Support Officer to join our People and Community Directorate, working in the City Brand, Product and Advocacy team.

The Communications and Engagement Support Officer is responsible for supporting the City Brand Product and Advocacy team in the development and implementation of communications, engagement and advocacy strategies and associated administrative supports to support the team in managing a positive brand and reputation for Lismore.


In this role, you will supports projects, activities and programs of work that ensure the community is aware of and involved in activities, events, services and decision making and visitors are informed and engaged for a positive experience of living working and playing in the Lismore LGA. This position involves providing administration, reporting, financial, policy and procedure support, communications and publication coordination and web support. The role is also required to assist in proactively delivering content and activities to engage and communicate with community, industry, visitors and stakeholders to ensure they engage with various projects, events, changes, products, and strategic planning initiatives.

 

Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will ensure the Council communicates clearly, consistently, and impactfully - building trust, strengthening relationships and supporting our strategic vision.

What we trust you to deliver:

 

  • Provide support to the City Brand, Product and Advocacy team to manage purchasing, booking, reporting and administration.
  • Responsible for writing content and updating websites and social content and pages.
  • Provide support to prepare, plan deliver and evaluate communications, marketing, promotions and stakeholder engagement events, campaigns and projects.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate minor and medium communication and engagement campaigns providing information and feedback about project outcomes to support Council projects and initiatives.
  • Champion new media communications and community engagement, brand and city product and actively advocates for community engagement mechanisms to advance LCC’s brand and reputation and community engagement effectiveness.
  • Provide advice and guidance on stakeholder engagement, promotions and communication initiatives to internal teams.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops and forums when required.
  • Coordinate and project manage small engagement events for Council when required.
  • Work across a number of projects and activities simultaneously, ensuring activities are well coordinated and delivered on time and to budget.
  • Identify, develop, and manage key stakeholder relationships including liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake various writing tasks, including developing a range of appropriate communication materials tailored to different audiences that support communications, marketing, branding and engagement projects.
  • Keep abreast of current developments and methodologies in the social media, brand and community engagement and communications fields.

 

What you will need to be successful:

 

  • Current Class C Drivers License.
  • Ability to coordinate small scale projects including planning, design, implementation monitoring and review.
  • High level communication skills with the ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and gain cooperation and assistance from staff and stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to relate to a diverse range of people in both the community and in the workplace.
  • Good administrative and process management skills, with the ability to prepare reports for budgets and programs.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, plan and organise own work to ensure specific and set organisational performances are met.
  • Experience in public speaking.

Desirable:

  • Experience, study or certification in Communications, Community Engagement, Marketing or Project management) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working within Local Government is desirable.

Employment conditions: Permanent full-time position, requiring 70 hours of work per fortnight (with an RDO). 

 

Salary: Grade 11, with an annual salary range of $74,187 to $85,315.
