About this Position:

The Manager Engineering (Water) leads the strategic planning, project development investigations, design, and delivery of council's water, sewer and urban stormwater infrastructure. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, sustainable and compliant services for the community by overseeing strategic planning, infrastructure planning, project delivery, technical standards and operational performance and supporting operational troubleshooting.

What we trust you to deliver:

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, Strategy, Planning & Investigation, and Capital Delivery
  • Develop strategies for infrastructure development and the continued provision of services to our distributed and growing community
  • Oversee planning, design and delivery of capital investment projects for water, sewerage and urban stormwater infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership to achieve effective long-term planning, prudent capital investment profiles, and rigorous design and construction management oversight
  • Manage budgets, procurement, contracts and contractor performance for water, sewerage and urban stormwater infrastructure
  • Manage engineering input into development applications and subdivision approvals.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and service improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience, and support assessment teams with interpretation and application of required standards.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or eligibility to attain engineering certification with Engineers Australia, or equivalent engineering body. 
  • Extensive experience in water, sewerage and stormwater planning and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and codes e.g. WSAA, Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, NSW EPA regulations, NSW regulatory and assurance framework for local water utilities.
  • Proven leadership capability.
  • Technical proficiency commensurate with a diverse water, sewerage and stormwater infrastructure-base. 
  • NSW Class C Driver Licence.

Full Time: 70 hours per fortnight

Salary: A competitive salary will be offered to the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience.
