About this Position:

We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Heavy Vehicle Collections Driver to join our dedicated Collections team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of collections vehicles, ensuring scheduled collection services are delivered in accordance with Council's operational requirements. The position also requires the undertaking of manual tasks and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, and operational excellence.

What we trust you to deliver:

  • Safe operation of Resource Recovery Collection vehicles (including light and heavy vehicles, hook trucks, rear loaders, side arm loaders, body trucks, among other vehicles) to achieve the Council’s Resource Recovery Collections scheduling in all traffic conditions.
  • Undertake duties associated with safe operation of vehicles, including truck/plant/machine pre-start checks, contamination records, cleaning and minor routine maintenance.
  • Manually collect bins from identified residences, commercial premises, events, public place bins including the Lismore CBD and various open spaces where bins may not be at immediate proximity to access by collections vehicle.
  • Proactively respond to assigned customer requests, taking initiative to communicate with supervisors on opportunities to prevent customer complaints and actioning associated outcomes.
  • Follow procedures and suggest improvements to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of the Resource Recovery Collections Team
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with relevant stakeholders to foster a team-based culture
  • Support work improvement processes and ensure quality assurance processes are followed 
  • Ensure working environment, plant and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean and operational manner
  • Collections of necessary data (including use of electronic devices and systems) to record collections activities and inform continuous improvement outcomes for safety, efficiency and customer service levels.

What you will need to be successful: 

  • Current HR Class Drivers Licence.
  • WorkCover Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Relevant experience within the industry including demonstrated ability to operate a Heavy rigid vehicle. 
  • Capable of performing occasional manual handling duties and general labouring duties.
  • Sound customer service skills and a genuine customer service focus.
  • The ability to accurately capture and record collection data using electronic devices and systems.

Full Time: 76 hours per fortnight

Salary: From $70,658 to $81,257 per annum + allowances and superannuation.
