About this Position:

We are seeking a motivated Trades Assistant to join our dedicated Water Treatment and Trades team. In this role, you will assist with the maintenance, presentation and day-to-day operation of water and sewer assets, working alongside experienced trades and operational staff. Your contribution will help maintain high environmental and safety standards while supporting the continuous operation of infrastructure that delivers essential services to our community.

What we trust you to deliver:

• Asset Maintenance: Conduct routine cleaning, servicing, and maintenance of fixed plant and equipment associated with water and sewer infrastructure. 
• Grounds Maintenance: Undertake landscaping and grounds maintenance around treatment facilities and all water and sewer fixed infrastructure, including mowing, brush cutting and herbicide application.
• Trades Assistance: Provide general assistance to trades personnel during maintenance and repair activities.
• Water Quality sampling: Undertake water quality sampling in accordance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Council protocols across the Lismore LGA and surrounding villages.
• Water Treatment Plant Operations: Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment plant systems and processes in alignment with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Council’s operational standards.
• Sewer and Treatment plant Operations: Operate, monitor and maintain sewerage treatment plant systems and associated network assets in compliance with relevant legislation, environmental standards and organisational procedures.
• Environmental Responsibility: Monitor and manage treatment processes to minimise environmental impact, including ensuring compliance with discharge limits, reducing chemical usage where possible, and supporting initiatives that promote water conservation and resource recovery.

What you will need to be successful:

• Demonstrated experience working with Trades
• Current Class C Drivers Licence
• Cert II in Water Industry Operations (have or willing to obtain

 Desirable:

• Chemical Users Ticket (desirable)
• Chainsaw Ops L1 (desirable)
• Current MR Class Drivers Licence (desirable)
• Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (desirable)

Full Time: 76 hours per fortnight

Salary: From $62,556 per annum + allowances + superannuation
