The team: We are all about infrastructure in the community, delivering on Capital Works Projects and Road Maintenance Activities.  As the Capital Works Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of Civil Infrastructure Projects (predominantly roads and bridges), in the most cost effective and efficient manner whilst meeting needs and expectations of the community.

You are:

  • Experienced in civil infrastructure projects: you will have a minimum of 5 years experience working on projects such as roads and bridges >$5mil.
  • An excellent team leader: you had led teams to achieve excellence through service delivery benchmarks and continuous improvement processes.
  • Experienced in technical specifications: you will have a good understanding of local government and Transport for NSW specifications and standards (quality, safety, traffic and environment).
  • Interested in helping and supporting the community: you are excited by listening and responding to the communities needs and public inquires.
  • An expert communicator: you will have high level communication skills and the ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and gain cooperation and assistance from a range of stakeholders both internal and external.

You will:

  • Ensure all Infrastructure Capital works comply with relevant industry standards and best practice.
  • Provide detailed financial progress reports for Infrastructure Capital projects.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and supervise the construction of roads, storm water drainage, water and wastewater infrastructure and ancillary works within the Local Government area of Lismore City Council.
  • Provide technical advice and administrative support to the Manager Civic Services and relevant field staff in managing Council’s public infrastructure assets.
  • Providing leadership for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Council’s infrastructure assets.

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.
